Cr Don Henderson, Hepburn Shire Mayor
Cr Don Henderson was elected to Hepburn Shire Council in 2008 and is serving his third term as Mayor. He is a self-funded retiree, and a carpenter and joiner by trade. Cr Henderson’s commitment to preserving the region’s natural and built heritage stems from his birth and childhood on the Creswick goldfields. He is passionate about community and inspiring young people to achieve their life goals, with a career highlight being the opportunity to meet Nelson Mandela. Cr Henderson’s previous board and volunteer roles include Australian Workers Union Advisor, Victorian Building Industry Training Board Advisor, Ballarat Trades and Labour Council President, National Women in Construction Inaugural Steering Committee contributor, Building Workers Industrial Union Secretary and board director of various companies. In his current Council term, Cr Henderson represents the community on the Loddon Campaspe Group of Councils; and Hepburn Shire’s Audit and Risk Committee, Reconciliation Action Plan Advisory Committee, and Dean Recreation Reserve and Tennis Courts Community Asset Committee.
